Therese Strasser works as a freelance composer for film, theater, advertising, art and audio installation.
She grew up in Munich where she started playing the piano in an early age and discovered the violin a few years later.
Attracted by the vibrant environment of Berlin she studied music & media and philosophy at the Humboldt University from 2005 to 2008. During that time her involvement in different bands and ensembles made her appreciate the joy of composing not only for oneself but also for others.
Whilst completing her masters in science of music between 2008 and 2011, Therese started working as a freelance composer and producer for film, theatre and art performances.
In 2012 she started studying at the Film University Babelsberg Konrad Wolf where she accomplished her Masters Degree in Film Music in 2016.
Therese wrote music for films (fiction, dokumentary) which have been screened at festivals world wide such as Montreal World Film Festival, Film Festival Max Ophüls Preis, Dok.Fest München, International Festival Of Films On Art Montreal, Fünf Seen Filmfestival, Festival Des Deutschen Films, Florence Queer Festival, Istanbul Independent Film Festival, Chicago International Movie And Music Festival, 100° Berlin Festival, Guadalajara International Film Festival, Achtung Berlin Film Festival, East End Film Festival, Sled Island Music & Arts Festival, Manaus Film Festival, Filmfestival Berlin Lichtenberg, New York City Indie Film Festival, Mica Filmfestival Amazonas.
Her music collaborations for exhibitions have been shown at Kunsthalle Bremen, Kunsthalle Baden-Baden, Pergamonmusem Berlin, KW Institute For Contemporary Art Berlin, Berlinische Galerie, Galerie Thomas Schulte, Galerie Sexauer Berlin.
Therese Strasser is a member of DKV (German Union of Composers), DEFKOM (German Union of Film Composers), WIFT (Women in Film and Television Germany), GVL and GEMA .
